Tackled my first maintenance job. Questions ensue.

I use these if I am getting under a truck. Chinese metallurgy isn't something I play with when it comes to my life. Not the cheapest set but more than enough to handle a cruiser and, more importantly, Made in USA. These are super stout.

Amazon.com: Hein-Werner HW93506 Blue/Yellow Jack Stands, 6 Ton Capacity (Set of 2): Automotive

+1 on these.

Another poster commented about dividing by two... I looked up the online manual and sure enough it says the 6 ton limit is for the pair, not the individual jack stand.

I picked up 2 pair of these jack stands and a floor jack from Amazon for maybe $250-300ish (edit: my CRS is kicking in, I paid $685 for all those, still got free shipping though. Here's the link to the jack)? Freight delivered to my house for free within a couple days of ordering. Prime is an awesome deal.

Congrats to OP for digging in to the world of DIY!

Thanks everybody! Great advice. I'm definitely going to order some beefier jack stands.

Next up is tires which probably won't happen for a few months with Christmas and a big anniversary trip in January.

Thanks again everybody. Really enjoying how active this community is.

I'd be interested to see if any difference. After draining oil roll off ramps, see if you get more oil out. I'll try the reverse.

I love how easy Toyota made it to change Oil & filter.

That won't work with my Civic! I need to have it up on the ramps to put the plug back in and r&r the filter.

Is the filter in a good spot on these engines? One other thing I like to do is partially fill the filter so the pump can build system pressure more quickly on that first start after filter change.

Dido on filling oil filer, when I remember too.

Oil filter is located: Front, driver side, under car, behind metal oval plate with two bolts hold on. This is an access hatch through shield number one (AKA skid plate). Just lay on ground under bumper with head near tire.
