Hey guys. I posted a thread a few months ago about putting a toyota V8 in my 73 fj -40 and after doing some digging I found that the easiest way to do this is to use a 1uz 4.0 from a lexus and a five speed from the early turbo pickup. I found a place in australia that has the bell housing and all of the clutch parts to mate the two but I,m still wondering what to do about the T-case. Will my stock 73 T-case bolt up to the turbo tranny or do I have to take some other route with this. Sorry for the novel, any info would be of help.

run the toyota turbo tranny and the t-case it came with with a low gearset and get the centered rear from cv unlimited.

...or, make your own.... ;)

yeah , and use the coarse spline stuff too :D even the axles if you can find em . yummy cryoed coarse spline everything . But then again I run disc's on a drum birf so all of us are just a little off , huh ? Where do you get the custom axles for the 9's .

hey peesalot your idea sparked a though in my brain. how about going with an atlas transfer case. I know they are expensive but then I can keep the rear ofset axle because, correct me if I'm rong, their t-case is kind of universal and after looking at one it looks like there is a spot to run either center or right side rear output.

nope...atlas is centered rear output only....and it's over $2k....orion is cheaper and bolts right up.

A built-to-the-hilt Dana 300 is about $1200-1500...doing one myself right now...

hey woddy thatnks for correcting me. that kinda sucks because it would have been an easy fix. I think I'm going to have to go with the marlin crawler toy box adapter so I can use my stock t-case.

you'll like the Marlin....nice product. take LOTS of pics and keep us posted!
