I have a 2008 LC with just over 70000 miles. Is it too late to change over to synthetic motor oil. Please provide you thoughts!

Cheers,
Mike
I have LC 2009 I am sure it is the same as LC 2008 so it is calls for 0-20 or 5-20 and it is synthetic, so I have not see oil with viscosity not syntetic

So if you have 0W20 which is all synthetic - why go back to conventional and is it wise move - I do not think so.
I look up my manual and for 2009 LC calls for 0W20 - so why in the world I need to be a "Wise Alex" and start tampering with that spec.
In reality toyota can take a lot of abuse I have seen engine (Camry) where dude never ever change oil car ran up to 120,000 and RIP my uncle's Toyota maintenance o about 10K with Walmart Oil running strong at 400,000+, so in conclusion - The END.

I am speaking of synthetic. The spec is there to help meet CAFE requirements... all the info is out should one choose to study it. If you are happy running 0W20, continue on and enjoy.

0W20 and 5W20 are intended to maximize mileage. 5W30 is a better choice if one is working the engine.

Thanks B, it'll be 5w-30 synthetic for me.

Here is the owners manual from the GCC/Middle east (compliments of Desert Nomad). Note it also mentions using 15W40 and 20W50. Oil weight depends on conditions and usage.

I simply have the Toyota dealership change it so it's their issue. It's synthetic and I have no worries.
Why try to save a buck on doing your own oil changes.

Its not about trying to save money for me, its about time. I can change it in my garage at home in less time than it takes to drive to the dealership and wait on them to do it, and being stuck there while they do it.

I hate oil (mess) so it's worth it to me to sit and wait. No worries
Thanks

Manual out of my 2015 200 TTD states 5W-30

I guess I'm a wuss, I went with Mobil 1 5w-20 full synth. 2008 URJ200 owners manual states "use 0w-20 for better fuel economy and cold weather starting". I live in SC. And Im more concerned with engine protection than fuel economy. The 0w that drained out of there was like water and I just can't sleep well knowing thats in there, especially in the summer. Maybe Im one of those super anal oil guys, but Ill probably go to 5w-30 when it gets up over 125k miles. Mobil 1 full synthetic of course.

On my last service 150k kms I actually ran the cruiser a full 10k kms on the oil for the first time, I was always worried it wouldn't withstand the frequent desert drives and replaced every 5k. I've been running the lexus fully synthetic but started seeing white toyota oil bottles that are synthetic I'll have a close look next time and see if I can spot a difference between them.
