For those of us who are life time cruisers that will be going to a 200 when the price is more affordable....any ideas on add-ons that can go from a 100 straight to a 200 with little or no modification?

The wheels and tires. Other than that, I can't imagine much else being compatible.

Drawers and roof rack minus mounts.

Even if they were at 20k, I wouldn't purchase one. I don't like how they look like highlander's

You mean you don't like that Highlanders look like Land Cruiser 200's.

I think they do this on purpose.

If you glance at a previous gen highlander, it has similar features to a 100 series LC as well.

At least you guys get the 5.7L V8 over there. We only have the VVTI 4.7L petrol in the 200 unless you spend $180k plus to buy the LX570 !!!!
Yes we have twin turbo diesel but I want a 5.7L at USA prices and the only way I can do that is grey import a Tundra!!!

Even with RHD conversion the top spec'd Tundra is less than $100k!!

Notice the similar overall profile. The black B and C pillars, and then the same slightly wider D pillars.

First gen Highlander

5.7L V8, 6sp, 37's... looks fine to me.

The 200 kicks ass. The Highlander is something you won't even think about when you're driving it.
no doubt. I remember on the LCML when even the 80's were labelled as "grocery getters" before anyone could afford to wheel one. The peanut gallery will always hate on the newer cruisers. :meh: I'd take one in a heartbeat. Look how many mods are done to 40's, 55's, 60's, 80's and even some 100's for more power. Not even an issue on the 5.7. More front wheel travel than a 100. Pretty much an upgrade in every way over the 100. I'll get one as soon as they get in my target price range.

:meh:

Another factor is the availability of aftermarket mods for these trucks. The 100 series has finally gotten to a point where there are a ton of options at different price points. The 200 series only has a fraction of bumper/slider/swing-away tire options. Once the price comes down enough and people like us get our hands on them, more suppliers will make offroad goodies, more people will see them driven for what they're made for (instead of to the mall), and they become more appealing... It's a cycle.

I'll probably be upgrading my cruiser for the rest of my life. Next one will be the 200 then ill upgrade to whatever is newer when the price drops. Dont like taking a hit on a new car anymore so I look for a preowned in great to excellent condition for a fraction of the cost. I plan to put dual battery, compressor, and a roof rack on this one seems to be all compatible with the 200. Does anyone know if sliders would be?

The sales volume of the 200 in North America was and is minute. The used prices reflect the limited supply.

Toyota sold tons of 100 series--especially in the beginning. 1999 was a good time to be alive in America.

5.7L V8, 6sp, 37's... looks fine to me.

That one is a bit more expensive than a standard 200, at least thats what Joe said. Shame of it all is that when they are racing, kids throw rocks at him and even worse they drop cinder blocks off of bridges. Id still ride with Joe! Keep an eye out for Woody's run with Joe coming up soon.
