Mileage is very low with no clear explanation. out of state truck could mean title washing and the seller has no eBay track record. I would get it checked out carefully before bidding, and have a close look at the vins to make sure they are original and match.

Maybe the guy doesn't realize what he has, he didn't even mention the lockers in his ad, but you can see the switch in the pics

Check out the leather in the pics. Looks a little worn for 66k, but it could be that Florida heat. His story sounds legit, but who knows. I would be checking that one out, carefully.

The upholstry is not factory. It has been added after the fact. Grey is the only factory leather color for 93-94. There were aftermarket suppliers that offered upholstry kits in leather to convert cloth seat vehicles. This may be a reason for the accelerated wear.

In addition, the radiator is not OEM, it has been replaced with a metal tank aftermarket. Not too many reasons for radiator replacement on a 66K mile car. Collision repair being one of them.

Not too many test drives between April and June. Only 17 miles in two months.

Seems pretty clean there.

Do Florida cars corrode due to the salt air? maybe the radiator corroded out

Even better, it's only 17 miles between Florida and Minnesota!

On 4/8/03 "offered for sale", 4/10/03 service contract issued ??, 6/09/03 registration issued in MN. Two months is about the time it would take to transport to MN, order new parts and fix a front end collision if done as an after hours project. I would guess it was bought in Fl, phony extended warrantee issued to cover front end mechanicals, transported to MN fixed, driven for a while the next project (Touareg) was "fixed" and will be driven as long as the next wreck takes to fix. Smart guy, high dollar vehicle, wrecked SUV, major components replaced by extended warrantee, body work fixed relatively cheap but has a great potential for high resale low mileage rig. Very slick, with some connections in the business of course, no need to roll back the odometer, looks legal. Never states that its been wrecked just in great shape mechanically with a few chips on the paint. Who lives in MN and wants to inspect it.

hmmm...
when I did a Carfax on my own vehicles I did notice that the "registration issued" date was indeed a couple of months after I bought the thing. Must be that they include the processing time in the "date"...

A close inspection of the grille does not show the holes that would be present in the LH side of the center bar, next to the "A" that would be present in a new version of the replacement grille. The grille changed numbers about a year ago and the new one has holes there for a diesel or turbo emblem. If it is a replacement grille it is an old stock piece.

Could be legit. I asked him about the seats and radiator:

Since I have owned this truck for less than a year, I'm not sure about the
history of the seats. After your email, I took a closer look at the leather
seats. I can't tell of they are aftermarket seats, but it does appear that
they have been reupholstered with the leather. There is no sign of cloth
underneath the seats, so if they are in fact reupholstered, they removed the
cloth first.

As for the radiator, it sprung a slow leak during our first cold spell and I
had it replaced by a reputable shop (Goodyear Tire & Auto). I'm not sure of
the brand, but it cost $790.00 to replace. I have a 1985 Landcruiser with
90K miles and we keep it at our home in NM. Soon after I purchased it in
2000, I used it during the winter in Minneapolis and the same then happened
and we had to replace the radiator. Like our 1994, it the 1985 was from the
south.

I hope this answered your questions.

Scott

The radiator problem bugs me. O/W it might be worth the 5 hour drive to check it out, if the price doesn't go up much more. 12K presently...

I'm sure that the upholstry is a leather kit added by a dealer, that is not really a problem just an observation. It is also possible that he had a radiator failure. It's too bad his 790 bucks didn't buy a new OEM radiator, it could have.

You can tell it was not factory leather because of the short center console.

Funny thing is that he had a service contract on it so that might be the figure charged against that policy. If I had a service contract I'd be getting the best quality parts and repairs I could meaning OEM done at a dealer. You might want to ask if that contract can be transferred and how long it lasts.
