I am swapping out my tired 2F for another 2F which is used not rebuilt. Since cash flow is a problem, I am seeking some advice on what else to repair/replace or otherwise do as the motor is being changed.

My short list thus far:

1. Inspect clutch and replace if necessary.
2. Replace all vacuum lines;
3. Degrease engine compartment, grind rust, paint (DIY...not a pro)
4. Install engine block heater (It is cold in VT);
5. Thermostat
6. Flush radiator
7.

I appreciate any advice you have.

Reseal the manifolds if that's not already part of the swap.

You might consider replacing the front and rear main seals. Lots harder on the truck. Also, repariing the weep hole in the head is a little easier out of the truck.

Best Regards,

Replace all your freeze plugs!!! I learned the hard way on this one, and had to do the repair with the motor in the truck. The freeze plugs had corroded until they were literally paper thin. The best part is that they are 50 cents each and available everywhere. Fix it now or fix it later....
