It's done all the time. Low tide is best (there is a tide table somewhere on my web site). Worse case, there is an "escort/tow service" available for a fee that guarantees getting you in and out.
The tides look mellow this year so you shouldn't have to get too high in the soft sand to be dry.

Skip the SeaCrest Lodge. After 20 plus years of being owned by a local family they sold to a company that is totally (but slowly and poorly) redoing the place. It is a mess right now with s*** all over the parking lot. The new management is lame and I would never recomend anyone to go there again. If you don't need to be right on the water check out the Oxford Suites on 4th St. Much nicer place for a decent price and a little closer to the beach. If you want to be on the water let me know.
