so i don't actually have a hilux yet, but i'm in the process of fanagaling with a seller.
anyway, i was contemplating some tires for the future truck, and was thinking of just getting some 31" cheapo muds (this truck will DD and some offroading), but had an idea. if i did a little lifting i could get my 33x10.5 tls radials from my 40 on the hilux, and that would justitfy my getting some bigger somethings for the 40. my tsl's are in fantastic shape, and the radial would be great as the hilux will ahve to get me around town (the 40 doesn't have to do this anymore).
anyway, how much lift are we talking?

I had a stock 94 with AR wheels, went thru 2 sets of BFG All Terrains (30 X 9.50), and went with same tire but 31's and they rubbed (at full lock, just normal driving)....so if you have to have 31's a lift may be required anyway

I was just gonna ask. What Rim width, Offset and Backspace is normally used to run 33x12.5 R15 on a Mini Pickup? :flipoff2:

Is this Hilux the same Vintage as mine? My Rims are 15x7 -13mm(1/2") Offset and 89mm(3.5") Backspace with 31x10.5 R15 Tyres, which measure exactly 30" diameter and 217mm(8.5") Tread width.

With the Steering Wheel on Full Lock to the side your looking at, of the Firewall. There's a Vertical indent in the Firewall where the exact corner of the Tyre comes to it by the width of my Finger. :flipoff2:

I'm thinkin' of going a Zero Offset 16x7 4" Backspace with Interco TSL Narrow Special Service 34x9 16. :princess: Wind the Steering Stops out as far as they'll go and hope they fit. :princess:

FYI, 31's fit on my 93 4runner (same front end, if you have IFS), only rubbing is at full lock, on the rubber valance which hangs down to keep mud out of the engine compartment, but it looks like 33s might rub.

the truck i'm looking at has 31x10.5 (solid font axle) and they don't rub. i've been told that even 32x10.5's wont rub.
after doing some research i found a guy saying he had 5" of lift and could get 37's, wich means i should only need 2 inches to get 33's under there.... i think.

if its a 79to83 they should fit as those trucks had bigger wheelwells as long as you use narrow wheels 15x7 or less.

My '83 has no trouble with 33x9.50-16s on 7" wides for the street or 32x11.50-15s 0n 8" wides for offroad. 2 sets so the sticky offroads don't get wasted running on the asphault. Only lift on mine is an add-a-leaf. I took out the bottom traction leaf and added the new leaf. Only raised it about an inch or so...

what did that do to your spring rate?

Rides the same. In fact you can't tell the difference. Stock minis don't articulate anyway 'cause they are too light. You just lift a rear tire alot. At least on stock springs anyway.

If you want articulation you put rears on front and chevs in rear... but that's another discussion...

i figure i'll just keep it simple. i've found add-a-leaf kits for like $45 a pair already.
but i'm getting ahead of myself being that i havn't bought one yet.
which reminds me, have you checked your pm's hammer?
