1997 Lexus LX450. I bought the truck in this condition. The previous owner purchased it used from a Lexus dealer who had said it needed a motor; but I have my doubts.

Symptoms:

-When pushing the SLIDE-open button, It moves a very small amount on the driver side ONLY (just enough movement to see really). I think something might be binding on the passenger side. Not sure what it could be? I'll need to drop the headliner. It returns to the original position when the SLIDE-closed is pressed.

-When pushing the TILT button, nothing happens. I can hear the module box above the headliner "clicking" when pressing the SLIDE button open and closed, but nothing when this TILT button is pressed.

Is there a way to test this module box that I removed from the headliner? Somebody has been in there before, likely Lexus; the rubber boot on the electrical plugs have been left pulled back. The previous owner said they cleaned the tracks and that's as far as they went. I received the sunroof wind deflector in the trunk when purchasing the truck.

-I've checked the switch contacts, the switch has continuity in all positions, so I feel it's fine.

Are there another set of relays, or fuses hidden somewhere? I need a FSM. All the power windows and locks work as they should.

Dropping the headliner seems like a pain, I don't mind doing it but I'd rather dive in with a better idea on what might need replacing first.

Thanks
Spence

the cables break off at the carrier piece that move the mechanism to tilt and slide. do a search, you should find several repair threads. don't keep trying to operate it as it will strain the side that is not broken and may make it worse.

The plastic cable carrier I'm guessing, the same thing happened to me I tried to Mickey Mouse it to get it to close properly and stay & it wouldn't work I had to replace the entire sunroof...
