I don't know about all of you... but i need to wheel a bit! I would like to stay local (have a 4PM engagement). Thinking of exploring Cabezon, never been out there, any thoughts or ideas - lets here them!

Forget Cabazon area. Great scenary but absolutely NO wheeling. I think you're stuck with the Jemez, Cedro or Puerco.

would like to get my rig out, but working, tho in the Cedro area (Dressage).

She's gonna be my DD for a bit, as the Honda is having a RF tire wear/brake issue...

Prolly for the best, as we traditionally get some snow on T-day. Factor in the 2 snows I've already had, could be sumptin.

I'm ready to go wheeling. If you need to be home by 4:00, that does limit the choices somewhat. According to Greg, no wheeling at Cabezon. Jemez would be a stretch to get you home in time.

Possibly Cedro (Manzano mountains), but they have recently closed a lot of roads out there to motorized travel, and I'm not sure yet where we are allowed and where we're not. We could check in at the ranger station, if they're open Sunday morning.

Or, that leaves the Puerco, which is always fun. We seem to find new places to wheel out there every time we go.

I'm just throwing out ideas, but I definitely want to get my tires in the dirt. I'm willing to go wheel where ever people want to go.

Daisy - it seemed like you were also planning on this one?

Im always good for a quick run.
I dont think that we could make the Jemez and back before 4 though.
Im game for wherever though!

Jericho - your call. Puerco, or...

Anybody else interested?

Is there someone that can fill in for me for my mom's Thanksgiving Dinner tomorrow so I can go (she is leaving next weekend to visit one of my brothers). You don't have to know any of the 28 or so grand children. Just whack them upside the head if they piss you off. If you see an infant in a car carrier, just ask "who's kid is this". They wont know the difference. My mom will pack a week's worth of food for you too.

Discliamer: I do love my family, but holy crap, they have gone nuts! Just wait for another Spanish Revolution!

Well unless daylight brings some new answers, im out. On the way to fill up with gas for Sunday, I had intermittent CEL's and crappy idle. Found some bad vacuum lines that I fixed but still running crappy. I will try again in the morning, but im not sure ill make the meet.
If I cant make it, you all have fun!

Sorry to hear that Daisy. I hope it resolves itself quickly.

Bummer - good luck resolving the issue. Keep us posted as to what you find.

I think I heard you guys on simples 146.460, starting right about 9AM. I think I even heard Evan calling me back.

An I right on that? At the time I was between my place and Ali's. I would not have guessed that I could get over the mountain, but I'm 99% sure I heard Jerrod telling someone they got pretty good traction on something, and that I heard Evan trying to get ahold of me.

Hope you guys had fun!

That was us - you were broken and had static but heard your call sign, not bad for little flexible antennas! We did get a good signal report from I-25 and San Antonio.

It was good times! Not a lot of pics but heres a few!

Yeah I did get the CEL sorted out. Vacuum lines, it seems, were the problem. After I figured that out, I dug into my back up lights not working. I found the problem, broken wire. Too bad that its in a horrible place and I cant get the connector apart!
Oh well, such is life.

Glad you all had fun, I tried to call you all back right after Evan called, you guys were probably already on the trail.

Glad to hear you got things figured out. We had a good day on the trail. A little chilly to start, but it warmed right up. We barely had a signal at the end of Southern, and I just turned off the phone once we headed over the sand dunes.

We did hear Dan on the radio - just barely. I am shocked that you were on the other side of the mountain. We both had our short SB-1 rubber duck antennas on for trail use, which makes it even more surprising.

Jarred - Thanks again for going and thanks for the pictures.

That's what I figured, and why I was blown away that I heard you. I heard you guys better at the very end (when the guy at San Antonio and I-25 called back) when I turned my squelch down. ;) I forgot it was set pretty high because I had been getting some interference there a while ago.

I was just using low power and my SSB-2.

Considering Ali can hear me on the CB at his house when I am at mine, but I can't hear him, the HAM range is simply incredible! I was actually less than a half mile from the house when I tried to call you guys the first time. I bet I could have gotten a good connection from the shop, since it's up on the hill.

Dan
