Beadlocks and low tire pressure make all the difference in the world.

Along with a proper weight balance, solid axles, lighter vehicles, mechanical traction aid and a great approach angle of the Rubi....I need to get one of those <drool> :p

Sacrilege.

Get e.g. that 40 that Fish just linked on the FS page, dump 10k into lift, tires, air lockers, longfields, low range, bumpers, sliders etc. and you'd have a longer lasting vehicle.

That said, I pray that as Chrysler breaks up, Toyota will buy Jeep :smokin:

It's just too easy to get a fully outfitted used Rubi for less than $15K. Turnkey. Coil springs rock :D:flipoff2: and no resto and filling large gaping holes required

I'm still somewhat new to off roading so just bear with me, but if you air down enough to need beadlocks, don't you give away all your ground clearance? I'm running 33" KM2's and I air down to 16 PSI, which gives a slight bulge in the tire while it's sitting there. I have no complaints about the contact patch or traction in general at this PSI. If I went down to say 8 PSI, would I really see a big difference/advantage?

Short answer, yes. I usually air down to about 16psi in the 4Runner. In Moab I dropped down to 10-11 because I was having trouble on some ledges. It really helped.

I understand contact patch so I'll take the short answer. I just worry about airing down too low and dragging the bottom on everything, especially on ledges. Of course if I would just get some skids, I wouldn't have to worry (as much).

That would be great right up until Toyota put IFS on the wrangler:bang:

I really thinking hard about doing just that. An older unlimited rubi, who cares how many miles on it. Put a long arm kit on it and 35's and you're good to go anywhere.

Oh and I have no issues with reliability with my jeep so far. Of course it doesn't have 10k miles on it yet.
