Sun-baked plastic cowl - Paint it? Replace it?

There are about a dozen little plastic retainers hidden in the weatherstriping between the cowl and hood. You will need to pry up between the cowl and body. You will break several of them. You also need to take off the windshield wipers 1st.

I would just replace it. I need to do mine as it is pretty sunbaked. Does anyone have the part numbers handy for both pieces?

Any tutorials on actually how to remove it without breaking anything in the process? I need to do this. Great thread.
Really just need to remove the wiper arms and it just pops off. When I had my windshield replaced the guy had that off in like 60 seconds. Obviously just be careful with any clips that aren't part of the cowl. If you're putting on a new one doesn't really matter if you damage the old one haha.

There's a cold area one and a regular one. I live in Texas so the regular one part is 55781-60130 for the right and 55782-60050 for the left.

One suggestion I can make is to not try to remove the rubber strip by removing the clips from the cowling.
They break very easily. Instead, stretch the rubber left and right at each clip as you pull upwards to remove the rubber from the clip.
You can remove the clips from the cowling easily after the cowling is removed and then reinsert them back into the rubber.

Part of the reason for replacing mine was broken clips.. probably from windshield replacement under prior ownership.

Got new cowls from impex for around $100 plus shipping (threw them in an order with some other bulky pieces to make it worthwhile).

Ordered. Came out to $103 shipped. My truck was delivered to Arizona originally, so I went with the regular one as well. Thanks for the info!

Any idea what the difference is between the cold weather and warm weather versions? Also, that's a strange part to be weather/region specific... especially for Toyota. Kinda seem more like a BMW thing ;)

@Zuberg, @405, maybe I missed it; where did you guys order from?

Also ordered from Impex. Considerably cheaper than US dealers.
Yep. I'm planning on getting it from there when I order my new AHC globes soon. It's the only piece I didn't get when I replaced the windshield. Everything else is new and now it looks even more worn out haha!

$95 is awesome. Thanks guys. As it happens, my 100 also needs a windshield. Looks like that'll all be happening together.

Can you take pic of the entire cowl? Or one side? Curious as to the difference between cold weather and standard.
