Too far north. Too far east.
It's that time of year again. Time for the concert series at the BioPark. Summer Nights is on Thursday nights at the Botanic Garden starting on June 5th. Zoo Music is on Friday nights begining June 6th.

Disclaimer and full disclosure: I work for the BioPark. I'm stationed at the Botanic Garden. I make nothing on these concerts, thought I do get a few tickets. I am directly responsible for the grass you will put your blanket on. I am indirectly responsible for the trees you will put your chairs under. I like coming to these concerts.

I could use some help with my grass. It looks worse than the stuff in your back yard. Oh shoot. I guess I just destroyed any chance of getting any unused extra tickets.

My backyard is buffalo grass. It doesn't green up until it get real hot.

Maybe I should aerate and overseed with that in the fall. I think I've got a Fescue blend now. It greens up...... um, well. I'll let you know.

I power-raked and dethatched 2 months ago and it still looks like a pathetic patchy mess. I'm blaming it on the lack of water over the winter and me getting started watering too late in the spring. It was so much easier to keep a nice lawn in Virginia. At least I'm down to about 400 s.f. of grass now.

Fertilize with ammonium sulfate at half pound per 1000sqft. Don't over do it. Ammonium sulfate is a quick release and can burn. Over seed with the mix of your choice, and compost over that. I prefer fescue mixes over bluegrass.

Umm, Hijack?
