That's all fine and great Rick. Would you like to come read the FSM to me? That is what I used, and unless the adjusting and lock nut managed to back off and then re-torque themselves it was still set to spec.
 
As I've posted before I've had problems with the bearings loosening up on me. I also beleive others have had this and have recommended to recheck them after driving a while.

I don't follow the FSM any more when tightening the bearings.

Me too, and I was very careful. Plus, mine were a little loose when I got the truck from a prior wheel bearing repack done by a jack-legged mechanic, apparently with nothing for tools but a hammer & chisle, and channel locks.
