Looking to get some studded snow tires something similiar to my BFG 33x10.5x15's willing to go skinnier and more aggressive tread is something preferable possibly a little taller but NO wider.

What are you guys running similiar to that?

BTW I've had blizzaks and hated those then switched to studded mastercrafts m/t's in Vermont and those were unstoppable.

Seeing that I spun out on I-70 twice last week in the snow I need new rubber pronto!

If you were willing to go wider.... Ive ridden in heap with studded duratracks on it and it handled awesome in the snow/ice. I know my studless 285 dt's are great in the winter.

D

Lookin at those and seriously considering them I just need something suitable for steep, dirt, rock and ice covered roads. I live 9 miles from a paved road on a 15% grade it's more keen to snowmobiling up then for driving but I need to get my truck up there most days.

those Cragar wheels are so cheap in the states..... i know u said you dont want to go wider, i run the same summer tire 33x10.5x15 bfg km2 and have a 4" lift. i ran cooper discoverers with studs last year in stock 27" wheels. awesome handling but looks funny with small tires and rims. bout to put on studded Duratrac's 33x12.5x15 on new rims and have dedicated summer and winter wheel set ups. i have heard good things about these wheels. it started puking snow today , gotta get on that.

I run Les Schwab Wintercat SST's studded in 31x10.5x15...great tire, decent price. I have a spare set of OEM 60 rims, put them on yesterday as Oregon is November 1st.

Studded tires are becoming less common. I'd go by your local tire shop and talk to them. See what they can get. Your best bet might be some of the private label tire brands...especially in a larger size.

There's a big push as of late in Oregon to ban studs...living in the NE part of the state, I doubt that will happen, but you never know.

Don't know if "Uncle Les" is in Colorado, but here's a link to their site:

Les Schwab > Tires

I am sure you could get any number of tire sizes; I ran the Wintercat SST with studs last year and was very pleased with it, especially with it siped and studded.

I run the RW07 studded for our government work rigs here in Pendleton and La Grande, mostly see highway miles traveling along I-84 so not as concerned with something that is as capable in powder more concerned with ice. I also run that same tire on my wife's '09 RAV4, two seasons so far and the tire is holding up well. I believe Dean is the manufacturer.

Alot of the government rigs (i.e. Or Dept of Fish and ildlife, ODOT, etc.) run the Mud Terrain SXT pinned or the M-55 pinned; the SXT was more $$$ than the WinterCat, and given my 60 isn't my daily driver (weekend mountain rig) I didn't pony up. I've run the M-55 on my Tacoma and I like the tire, but it is a very hard rubber compound and I didn't feel it performed as well in cold weather. Plus, it was LOUD as hell!

Go with the DuraTrac, best studdable snow tire on the market period. I sell tires for a living, the only other tire I would consider would be a BFG ko drilled and studded but alot of places wont drill tires for you so you should check that out in your area. good luck

Try a 235/85/16...this is what most duallys run, about 32 1/2 in tall, and various tread patterns and most studdable.
I got a set a couple of years ago off of a zamboni. Goodyear workhorse, I think.

What's the difference between studding and drilling & studding?

Thanks

Duratrac 31x10.5x15 off of Tirerack was the decision.... Went to about 8 tire dealerships and just got the run around about which tires to get.

Also some priced me as high as $1050!!!

Trying to describe to them that I did not want to go down to a tiny little donut was like pulling teeth.

Ended up being around $750 and i just joined Tread Lightly so I get a $100 rebate!!!

Total about $650!!!
