Well again dunno if the best place to post that but here I am ..

Last trip I broke my inners in a loose gravel road .. no big deal, order a set 30 splines ( mine was 27 version ) and put 'em on .. why Tencha was on the jack stands

main.php

I test the front axle function to verify all was working as it should be .. I put my ARB on and test it the hubs was locking .. ( never test the front without the locker so don't know if was lock from the day that I broke 'em .. )

Saturday we take a XXX mudd trip down here ..

main.php

I I realize my ARB on fron was stuck locked .. no matter what if was the switch on or off ..

Coz of that I broke a Aisin hub .. ( was in a ditch and all the weight was in the drivers side tire ).

My logic drive to thinks that it's almost imposible that the ARB got stuck locked .. springs should move the collar back when not enought air pressure it's in to keep it against the carcas ( locked ).

appreciate comments about it ..

thanks

David

hub studs or the hub gear? did it damage the birfs stub?

You talking about 30 spline longs? If so You need to get the chromo hub gears so you dont risk damage to the birf if it hasnt already.

need to crean it, open it to check the drivers side wheel to know what really happen in .. that isin't the problem .. if it's a broken hub gear . .. will think about put the the chromo one or just use my flanges ..

What it's interesting to me it's how the ARB it's stuck locked ..

Hi All:

David, sorry to hear about the problem! :frown:

So the Air locker seems stuck in the "engaged" mode, right? Does the truck drive alright on a dirt road if you are not turning it?

Regards,

Alan

debris in the line? have you unhooked the line?

drain the 90 weight and check for metal shavings. Pull the axles again and drop the third.

just remember if the hub gear splits in one spot and chews/ratchets/eats the splines off the end of the birf Bobby will not cover that kinda damage. You need his chromo gears to avoid the problem.

you think debris can hold at least 90 or so PSI that hold the ARB engaged . ?

chances are ..

mi 30 splines it's nitro coz Boby does not accept int CC or PayPal .. so I'm not able to buy from Boby anymore ..

If the axles are bound up from the hub breakage the ARB may not be able to unlock. Sometimes I need to back up a bit to get my front ARB to unlock when the axle is bound up.

I may not clear with the bound up term or concept ..

the inners after breackage was easy to pull and so the new axles to get in .. I suppose there was no problem with the side gears of the ARB .. I may need to play with it back and forth to see if that help it to release ..

90 psi on a small tube is not hard to contain. Your case could also be warped or bent to the point of being bound up.

I'm gonna recommend a complete tear down.

In fact, engage and release your ARB, if it doesn't have the characteristic "pewwwww" of release.

start by pulling the blue air line off the bulkhead to release any air and check if the copper end has been crushed.

ARB's return springs are overcome at 40 psi (roughly), the higher 100psi pressure switches are just the standard they use. You can put 150, 200, etc into the air locker. Higher pressure means faster engagement.

ouch .. I was not ready to ear that .. :) looks like there is no other option ..

in fact it charge air .. and release it .. with the natural and normal sound .. but that means nothing since my compressor it's in the back of Tencha and it's a long line to feel up ...

BTW the broken stuff was around this creek .. ditch ..

that ditch looks like agreat trail, right up the middle of it!

Thats some good muddin there. Looks like some of the goop around my area.

Im guessing your problem started when you broke the chromoly 27 spline inners. It the ARB is anything like a detroit when that axle popped it broke something in the ARB. I have a busted detroit from the same thing only mine was stripping the splines off of a 30 spline long and the unloading action took out my detroit.

So what was wrong with it? Any tear down yet?

I broke an axle in the rear and the break also took out the locking function of the ARB. It was perfectly fine open, but it bent a critical part inside and needed to be rebuilt. I don't remember what failed, but the replacement piece was $75 from ARB.

not yet .. will be this weekend .. ( not much chance during the week .. and bunch of mud to clean  )
