I have a strong fuel odor coming from my ʻ97 LX450. I have replaced the charcoal canister which fixed the gas cap pressure issue. I have also had the fuel filter replaced but no improvement. What should I check next?

The top of the tank is known to develop cracks. I would top off the tank and see if starts leaking. Crawl under the car and use a mirror to check the top of the tank, usually it is where the parking brake cable goes over the top of the tank.

The cable has nothing to do with the cracking, but in my opinion the pressure build up is what causes the crack.

Ok thanks. I haven't detected any fuel leaks (at least to the point where it drips down to the pavement), but I guess it could be possible that it's leaking drying up/evaporating before reaching the ground. I'll see what I can figure out.

I would do a through check of everything fuel related as you might have leaks from injectors, return lines, fuel filter etc.

I have thr same issue when the truck is on a hot trail and running for hours. If I unscrew the gas cap, it vents for about a minute with some force. I replaced the fuel cap (it leaked on sharp angled hills) and installed a AC Delco evap cannister at the same time. It lessened the fuel tank pressure issue but it's still there. It's coming from the fuel pump gasket inside on the trail which is a PITA. Haven't found what is actually plugged, keeping the pressure higher than it should be. If you find out, please post up.
