I Stripped studs intake manifold EGR block off. Any advice? read some guys have made JB Weld work.

Im gunna pop it off, but if the threads are shot on the soft aluminum this is the only route I can think of that keeps the intake manifold installed. Helicoil etc doens't sem like a good Idea.

Curious advice on this, I have som EXTREME heat JB weld.

I would not use JB weld for anything engine related unless it it a trail fix or a short term solution. If it is these two studs that you are referring to, there should be more than enough room to helicoil them. If you are concerned about drilling and tapping them straight, just make a quick drill and tap guide by drilling a clearance hole in a block (metal if you have it but harder wood would even work), that is just barely larger than the tap drill diameter, then re-drill a new hole that is just larger than the tap major diameter.

If it is just the studs that are stripped, there is a good chance you'll be able to extract them and the aluminum threads will be fine.

I assumed a helicoil would be at risk of getting sucked in to the engine. I guess I could pull the carb and vacuum out the metal shavings from the new hole.

Edit: I jut went out and jacked torque on em. The nuts were actually what were spinning before, but it appears the nuts were just stripped a bit, and upon using a socket over hand wrench I was able to get them to grip. I used a torque wrench and it appears I’m at least at 12 ft lbs. (I didn’t go higher, I believe the torque here is 12-13).

There’s a chance I overtightened a but to check that would mean more over-tightening… I also think I installed this awhile ago and didn’t follow a torque sequence.

I sprayed the s*** out of it with brake clean and see no RPM change. I’m gunna change out the gas filter for an ace hardware bolt and see if resolved the low vacuum reading. The vacuum plugs were leaking gas underneath them which tells me it may be the source of a vacuum leak, not the studs .
