Looking for what other folks use. I am looking to set up a friends garage with shelving and storage containers for all the junk that life hands us cleptomaniacs. Don't want to break the bank, but want to set him up with nice stuff too.

Been using sterolite ?? spelling?? in my shop , Rubbermaid is too expensive in my opinion. Anyway, the sterolite from walmart have been cracking after a few years. Anyone have thoughts?

The Rubbermaid stuff is worth the extra $$. It doesn't crack near as fast or as bad as the stellite crap from walmart. I use the Rubbermaid stuff in an uninsulated pole barn in southern IN. As long as you don't beat on it too hard when frozen it works great. Only stuff better is industrial grade bins which cost way more than Rubbermaid from Home Depot.

The clear plastics are less likely to have UV inhibitors in them, so they deteriorate faster. The better quality stuff (Rubbermaid) does have the UV inhibitors, but you also pay for it.

For the small light stuff, I use the clear ones from Costco. I think an 8 pack of them cost $12.
I store my vintage/ antique / new old stock chainsaw parts in them. I don't know the brand but they tend to deteriorate after a few year if left where sunlight can touch them.

I keep my heavier stuff in Rubbermaid Action Packer storage boxes.

ditto on the Costco boxes. They have several different sizes from shoebox size up. So every so often I get a dozen or so of the small ones. So many uses around the house and garage... And very inexpensive. Good quality too, never had one break.
