Hello all,

Finally got my king 2.5s installed and while on the bench I measured the extended length of the strut to be 1" longer than stock, which should translate to roughly 2" extra down travel at the wheel. Also, my tires are larger than stock.

At some point the OE jack won't be able to get the front tire off the ground when used in the recommended spot, which is under the frame lined up with the body mount under the front doors. Anyone have experience with this? I'm planning on trying it out later today before a trip but was curious if anyone else had sorted this out.

Good point! I haven't addressed this either in my setup. Should carry around 2-3" of block make sure there's enough lift height.

Curious of the king shocks are longer at both the front and rear?

You are probably to the point where your OEM bottle jack won't work. I'm similar to you in build and mine won't get the tire off the floor. Almost but nit quite. I carry a couple 2x8 cut offs to put under the jack if I need it. On a trail, the bottle jack will be marginal in most cases without putting something under it. I have a high lift but I don't carry it on the road and with OEM rear bumper I would have to use it on the sliders to lift the rear for a tire change.

I edited the first post as there is a more precise description of where to put the jack.

Seems like the bottle jack should be just fine for the rear, as it's lifting the axle instead of the body and it should be plenty long for that.

Either way, I just verified it works in the front with mine so far. Semi-worn P285/70R17 and the Kings that noticeably increase front travel.. the front tire was about an inch and a half off the deck before I stopped.

My rear is pretty low, so maybe that impacts how high the front axle will get when jacked closer to the center.. Or maybe those BP-51s have more down travel? I would think a lot of these high-end systems would have similar extended length due to the CV/ball joints/etc being the limiting factor.

I forgot to measure the extended length of the rears before installing, but will do that when I get back from the trip. They did "feel" longer, as the axle seemed closer to the ground when I went to stab the kings vs when I removed the stock ones. But I'll get a concrete number in a couple weeks.

Yes, the bottle jack is fine for the rear if you only need to change a tire and can lift the axle.

LCP has some nifty products to address getting the bottle jack to work (safely) with slightly lifted rigs...

We now have 4 sizes to work with all Toyota jacks and aftermarket hydraulic jacks. PM me if you dont see what you need on our site or if you want input.

I'm a Safe Jack fan.

Safe Jack will not fit under the axle when the tire is flat.

I was forewarned and always carry 3 pieces of short 2x6 to drive up onto, said pieces serve many other uses as well. The stock jack can be used to raise vehicle to facilitate use of Safe Jack. In short there are many ways to skin the cat.

LOL Given all that▲▲ why not just use a factory jack?
