I'm getting ready to put my new double din radio in my 95' 80. I have searched and have not seen anything specific on pulling the radio out...procedure for getting it out without breaking anything. Does anyone have a link to something that explains or shows it?

Secondly...does anyone know if I have to hook anything up from the antenna to my stereo besides the actual antenna signal connection? I leave my antenna down 99% of the time, my stations all seem to work fine. I don't think the memory feature on my factory radio is able to put my antenna back to the position it was in when I turn off the truck...I have the manual up and down switch...will it work fine or is the power to this switch pulled from the factory radio, requiring me to supply power to it from my new radio?

Thanks.

The antenna is going to be fine it is the same as all aftermarket units. Removal is simple, unscrew all the screws on the trim bezel surrounding the radio it self and unplug the wires going to the switches. Second unscrew the four screws holding the radio into the dash. Unplug the harness from the radio depressing the center tabs on each plug (don't yank). Trace the harness to behind the glove box where there is a factory amplifier. Unplug the harness from each side of the amp and plug them in together so it bypasses the amp. You may need to unscrew the glovebox/ drop the under dash trim panel to access the amp. Use a after market to toyota adaptor plug to put your new radio in so you don't have to cut the factory harness. Any other questions feel free to contact me, I have pics of removing the complete dash on a cruiser to do a heater core change as well.

As a second follow up, continuing to use the manual up/down switch on the antenna is the way to do it. There isn't a relay to make it go up and down triggered by the power antenna wire like most other models of cars. Strictly manual operation for use offroad (cruiser unique option) ... so be careful if you want to listen to the radio while going through a power car wash... OUCH... LOL

 Indeed. It was gonna' be an $80 lesson (labor not included) from my local Lexus store, it turned out to be a $50 lesson through Cdan. Easy to replace, not cheap.

I'm running into difficulty removing the stock doubledin radio. Can anyone post up som pics of the procedure. From trim removal to screw locations....that would be a huge help. Nothing worse than breaking the plastic trim on the wife's DD.

I have to remove the trim- just nervous after a few bad stereo installations on other vehicles - I've bought a lot of replacements for cracked trim :)

The trim all just pops out, you have to be careful not to flex it at all while pulling on it but it will just snap out. After that it's like 4 bolts holding it in. Try to pull on the trim right where the clips are at, I dont recommend prying on it with anything though.
