How's it going peeps,
I'm new to IH8MUD so not sure if I'm supposed to post this here just let me know.

I had an issue with my stereo in my HZJ75 not powering up (has power but won't turn on) so I'm really stumped.

in this photo you can see the cord that's powers the stereo (yellow) and from the plug it runs into a cord leads to the cig lighter (red)

Now if I connect these two the cig lighter, clock and stereo all turn on (as seen in the bottom photo)

I don't know s*** about electrics. So I really don't know what any of this means. That's why im posting this here looking for some help.

Something else to note is that the plug that connects to the cig lighter (wht I assume should power it) only has about 2.5 volts coming from it. Also yes I have checked all the fuses and I don't believe them to be the problem.

I had a quick look at these before none are blown but some are "loose" and fall out and looking at the back of the fuse box some fuse sockets don't have wires leading to them.View attachment 3273491View attachment 3273494
Ok so an update: have had a look at the fuse box and it's all kinds of ****ed up, the cig lighter fuse socket doesn't have wires running to it, the radio is getting its power from the dome fuse and about half of the other sockets also don't have wires running to them. Looks like ima need to replace the fuse box hopefully that solves the issue.

@ToyotaMatt I don't think that particular one will work for the 70 series. Not because of voltage or anything electrical. Just fitment and they have a lighted ring around the housing.

Like this for the 24V variation.

thanks for the education ,

i was not aware all 70 series were 24V ?

the lighted trim ring topic is intriging because TOYOTA made mostly GREEN but some BLUE ones ?

im on the hunt for a OEM blue one ...

i like the 24V BOLD FONT too ...

thanks :)

Not all 70 series are 24V

Correct. I was just showing a photo of the 24V version. IIRC, the 12V is just like the 24V pictured example except "24V" is missing. No other difference in appearance. Never seen blue ring though.
