I found an oem steering wheel from a guy, believed to be an early 70s model wheel. I was going to put it on my 67 to replace the shotty aftermaket one but the splined rod on my column was too big, and to be honest The was the back on the steering wheel looks, I don’t think it would have worked compared to the inside of my column. Can anyways she’s some light on what year the steering wheels changed? Does column or floor shift make a difference?

The spline count changed from 36 in 7/69 to 33 as I remember. After that it stayed 33 at least until 95 when the air bag in the steering wheel in the US market. Changes were need to have the horn work and turn signal cancel switch but they would fit the 7/69 and later column.

thank you, I was having trouble finding this last night.

I went to google to search the exact phrase "steering wheel" Here's one way search it—>

early "steering wheel" spline site:ih8mud.com

so with what I typed, google will only look to mud and mainly search "steering wheel" but the mention of early & spline helped distill the results to what you wanted to know.
