In trying to sort out why the lower hose on my newly installed aluminum radiator is contacting the steering stabilizer, I believe I’ve found one of the culprits. Im fairly certain this truck was in one or more collisions, based on a few things on the front end that are bent or tweaked.
In comparing the part photo on partsouq, it looks like the steering stabilizer bracket *should* be completely flat where it meets the frame ie, no gap between the frame and the bracket. Could someone peek at theirs to confirm this? If so, the bracket needs to be bent down at the end and also in toward the frame which should resolve this. I’d order a new one but 4572160071 is showing up as discontinued.
Thanks!

Yeah its tweaked like you think, I can't get tje same angle of pic because of a/c ect being in the way, but here's mine from underneath, thats the corner of the front splash guard for reference.

Hello,

The bracket should be flat with the frame rail.

It is possible that it is bent upwards as well.

The steering damper clears the radiator hose.

This is a picture I took when I changed my 73 Series' steering damper. It does not capture the bracket but I think it is good for reference.

The collision may have been serious.

Thanks. A serious accident indeed!
Indicators so far are a twisted sector shaft, bent lower front bulkhead (across the bottom of radiator) and the tweaked stabilizer bracket. There’s also this which I found when I pulled the steering box and scraped off a ton of oily crud. Doesn’t look like a factory weld. 🤔

I’ll be hammering out that bracket this weekend…
