Anyone know of an easy way to disable the auto up and down steering column upon door open / ignition on

Friend did it with Techstream, but I’m curious if there’s another way??

Thought I saw someone mention using Carista (which I have) to do it, but don’t see it in there

Thanks

there is a button on the left side where steering wheel heater button is, look for a button with a person leaning forward and you can disable from that button, it will disable steering movements and driver seat for easy exit as well.

The poors with early 200 LCs have no such button. We don’t even have a heated steering wheel.

Tech Stream is the only solution I’m aware of.

No. Mine is a 2010 LC. No heated wheel and no button that shows person leaning forward

another place to check is in vehicle settings menu, go through every single one to make sure it is there. if not then probably techstream is only option. you can buy moongoose cable from ebay which comes with software, i have that and been using for almost 10 years. cost less than $50

Oooh.. I will look into this more

Thanks

@umarali care to share a link? I’m seeing them mostly around $300-400

Note that not all techstream cables are created equal. Clicking the link it appears the mongoose cable is actually the very common MiniVCI that a bunch of us have struggled with. You’ll be able to reset codes and do certain things, but it will not display live data or program TPMS.

Many of us have had much better luck with the VCXNano cable from eBay. It will support the above mentioned features. But note that the techstream license cracking software will usually trigger antivirus warnings on the computer it is installed on. So far no issues with that though.

I can check if you want, but I would bet that Carista and it's app can do this. I love that thing, super handy.

I have Carista, and I’ve tried like hell and can’t find it in there

Thanks

I disabled the auto tilt/extend function of the steering wheel on my LX570 through the settings using a launch scanner. I think carista and the more basic app scanners might not allow access to all the available settings. I think any regular full scanner will be able to do this. So no techstream needed. This works the same in the GX460 as well. I assume this would be the same for the landcruiser since the platform is the same. The little Launch Creader scanner specifically for Lexus/Toyota has all the available settings and is a good price.

Thanks. Never heard of this one

Its a launch scanner, so great software just with a smaller screen and a wired connection, but cheaper because it has only toyota/lexus software preinstalled, it can add other cars as well if you pay. It's nice because it has all scanner functions, just nice for occasional use. The setting for the steering wheel is under custom fuctions, then tilt/telescope/then autoaway, default is on, jsut switch to off.

Thanks. Just ordered one to try it out.

My old universal Bosch scanner is pretty limited (but works well on my diesel Ram) and been needing to upgrade anyway

You mind posting a link to the one you ordered? Amazon has Launch Creader for Toyota and “Toyota Elite”, both have the same price.
