I run a 16.5 inch wheel and tire combo. The used miltary tires are great and real cheap. But I can't air down too low, or at least as low as a 15, 16 or 17 inch wheel, with out blowing the bead. Hardly anyone makes a regular beadlock in this size. So I stumbled upon Staun Beadlocks. Has anyone had any experience using these? Are they better than regular beadlocks. Thanks in advance.
They are advertised on pirate4x4 a lot. They look cool but I can't afford $150 per tire for beadlocks. They also act as run flats for regular driving. I'm curious how good they are off road.
X2, but once they're in, it's done. I've blown one inner tube, but I'm ordering a replacement now. Added info: airing down can take a while. Personally, I like them. You can use any wheel you wish and don't have to be torquing and re-torquing lots of bolts. I have a set of Ruff Stuff's weld ins as well, so I have actually compared the two.
I didn't think of it earlier but the only problem I have heard with the Staun's is the potential for the valve stem for the bead lock tube can break off.
