So, I have been with State Farm for ages, and have never had a claim and only 1 ticket in over a decade. Therefore, I am considered an "elite" customer, or at least that is what it says on my policy ;) Thank goodness I have a $0 deductible. Look at this bill....

Yikes, that's pricey. I had mine replaced recently, but never saw the full cost (it was free). In Florida, all drivers who have comprehensive coverage can get a windshield for no additional cost. I think the same goes for South Carolina and Kentucky.

They paid about $700 for the windshield and most good installers would like to use new molding, just so it doesn't come back.

Seems removing the rain sensor is the big variable between OEM and standard replacement glass and I've gotten different stories from the glass guys about whether the glass is any different. That said, the way they did it is preferred...just need to be sure the installer has done a few.

if you never had a claim before they still owe you many many windshields...

The molding doesn't need to be replaced if it was installed properly and removed properly. State Farm covered my glass but I paid out of pocket for new molding cause the last glass installed mucked it up

Luckily, the installer has done many Cruisers and LX470's. He is the one who recommended new molding and rivets throughout. I must say, I am extremely impressed with the install as there is ZERO wind noise and the new molding is perfect all the way around. I just can't believe that the Lexus windshield was $1200...yikes! Well, I don't feel bad because as a fellow mudder said in this thread, they owe me several windshields after the thousands and thousands I have contributed over the last 15 years.

He paid for someone to take on his risk, an obligation which it sounds like they dutifully fulfilled. What again do they owe him?

$35/hr labour????? Wow. We're lucky to find anyone who charges less than $100/hr in Australia.

Good point as I'm a little shocked the hourly rate was low. Of course, I'm sure they made some $ on the parts though. I love State Farm as I feel they went above and beyond with the OEM stuff when technically they didn't have to.

Not cool. I caught a rock last week coming home from work that immediately cracked midway up the driver side. I sure hope it doesn't cost anywhere near that to get mine replaced. The worst part is that I had gotten the windshield replaced the previous day in my wifes Camry for inspection. I'm still rolling OE glass on the '07 though. I guess its about time.
