i bought a 76 cruiser thats starts with no problem but when you push the gas pedal the cruiser dies. any suggestions ? or ideas to what the problem might be?..

pull the air ...

cleaner off and look at what the carberator is doing when you work the throttle. you should see the top valve opening a bit. can you romp on the gas and still keep it going?

was this rig driven for a while before you got it? maybe the fuel is hanging up in a dirty fuel filter.

can you leave it running to see it if warms up well, and will the problem be there after it is warmed up?

how old is the gas in the vehicle? might try some fuel line/gas cleaner to get the internal carberator parts working.

:hhmm: that's all i got now.

welcome to the mud. :clap::clap::clap:

warm

pull the choke on and let it warm up a little

either fuel starvation or you are not using the choke or if you have an auto choke it might not be working

hows the gas in the window is there plenty?

I was thinking maybe to much choke as well as not enough. Either way could cause it to die.

Yep, sounds like fuel starvation. Check your pump injector nozzle and see if it's squirting fuel also.

Is this a recent problem or has it always been that way as long as you have owned it?

It sounds like the main nozzle fuel circuit of the carb primary is plugged. It could get that way if it has been sitting for a long time without running. Will it rev up if you completely open the throttle rapidly or will it die? Will it rev up if you pour a little gas in it as you rev it?

thanks alot will be posting a few pics of the cruiser soo. the 40 starts up well and runs ok. once you mash the gas pedal it starts cutting out.once again thanks to all for the advice

My questions are the same as the others. Answer them and you will get more imput.

Best
