Sometimes when I go to start my rig i just here the srater click. Not continous but one click. I can so it as many times as I want but it does nothing but clicks. I checked all the connections and everything is nice but it just wont start up.

Oh yea, sometimes if I just sit there doing it a million times in a row it will catch and start up like there wasnt any problem.

Yup. Sometimes, if you get out and lift the hood, and either: 1) hit the starter with a hammer, or, B) "jump" the connections on the starter with a big wrench or a screwdriver, it'll then start with the key.

If it's oily down there it may be interfering with the electrical connection to the starter. I had that happen before. Take it off, clean it up nice, remove beer can tab that previous owner used for a washer, reassemble, and it starts like a dream.

Are you sure your positive battery connections are clean? The post may be clean, but ya gotta clean the connections to the post connector, that's where the starter cable gets its juice.

It's what happened to mine, anyways....

If above does not fix it, suspect that the starter is telling you to rebuild or replace. Been there.

If it only clicks when attempting to start from the ignition but will start when shorting the connection across the posts on the starter then it is wiring or connections.

If it clicks when shorting the connection as well, then I would try replacing just the solenoid before replacing the entire starter.

(I'm assuming these are separate pieces (solenoid and starter) on the toyota starter assembly)

I agree with everyone about checking your connections first.

Then if all's good I would look at rebuilding the starter. I rebuilt the one on the wifes 80 for $3-$4 just a couple of copper contacts. Not hard at all!

Doesn't say what kind of a Toyota truck he has, but here is a good tech article.

Looks like you can get a starter contact rebuild kit from Toyota (probably not the right p/n for 2F/3FE)....
