Hi Guys,

I found a local shop that fabricates and installs SS systems - and can bend up to 3 inch. Anyway, for a complete system with free flow muffler (2.5 inch) from the manifold back is only 550 before taxes.

That price is awsome - if anyone is local to Ottawa and wants a SS system installed let me know and I will forward the info.

I am having a complete system installed today - will report back on how good it is and how it sounds/operates.

Regards,

I though about SS, but when the quote for primary back (I used a HFJ78 #1 pipe) was $217 US with tax I could live with regular....

Louis how about a video of your new back end pipe, with the new sound ??

Regards

That is an incredible price. One price fits all? HZJ, correct?

Are you pleased with the install and work...

Hi Guys,

I go pick the truck up tonight so I will see what the install was like.

Turns out I was wrong about the price - it's actually 545.71 tax in! I dont pay PST as I am a dealer and get the GST back later too - so that is even cheaper. Now let's see why kind of work he does.

If I can notice a difference in the sound I will video it.

Yes, it is an HZJ73 from the manifold to the rear bumper.

Regards

Anyone know of anywhere in the GVRD that does SS exhaust systems? That price is incredible, and I've found nothing remotely close to that on the wet coast.

correct me if I am wrong, but can you simply bend stainless or does it have to be put together with mandrel bends that have to be welded together? Well if it is stainless and for price I wonder if the guy could fab up exhaust sytems and send them to west coast and install them here? The best price I found was $1100 and that was stainless muffler and aluminized pipe at Ateb in burnaby

Can you really justify stainless on a diesel motor? They don't eat out like a gasser exhaust. My previous exhaust was on the hj75 when I bought it and I do not know how old it was when I bought the truck but it was only replaced when I installed the turbo and went to 3 inch it was still very good after the 11 years I owned the truck.

Salt and snow is the killer mix for vehicles and mufflers here in Ontario. I wouldn't have put a new muffler on except that it needed a repair that was going to cost 130 - and the customer wanted the SS, so now was the time to do it.

On the muffler - I picked up the truck last night. It is a good fab job, not mandrel bent, it is nice and tucked up but still goes over the frame at the front wheel.

Next time I wouldnt go with the free flow muffler unless I don't care about the noise - it is louder when i come on to the throttle that is for sure. At highway speeds and at slow acceleration it is not bad.

I do find a difference in power though, seems to accel faster - and the temp guage is lower (not sure if it is just in my head or not).

All in all it was a great deal for an SS muffler. I'll definatly recommend him.

Will try to take a sound video later this week. Also, might change the muffler to not the free flow type as I am not sure my customer will like it that noisy.

Regards,

here a aluminized exhaust system properly installed will last from 10-15 years. the cost is the same to more than your price Louis. that is a great price so congrates on a good find...
cheers

Ya, it's a good ind for cruiserheads in the area. An aluminized is good too but they seem to go at the welds while the rest of the system is always fine - ontario and that damn salt.
