I have 1998 LC and I am recently experiencing a squeal from the rear brake area and feel that the parking brake is still set when I release the parking brake and go in reverse. If I have not set the parking brake I do not hear any squeal and reverse feels normal (does not feel like parking brake is set). Anyone have any experience with this?

Go lube all of your parking brake hardware, the cables, cams, whatever you can see, not the brake shoes, but the stuff that moves to set/release the parking brake.
It sounds like your parking brake is not releasing, start by lubing it.
If it continues, you'll have to dig deeper, but that's where I'd start. Things get rusty and then start to hang up.
