I was thinking you could cut the straps off altogether and use velcro to attach it to the trans tunnel carpet (i.e., in the same spot)

First time I saw those saddle bags, I couldn't get past the buckle that will rub the paint off the silver trim and the other strap having to stuff itself under the leather e-brake boot. I use the e-brake all the time while parking off road, and that saddle bag strap will pull the e-brake boot every time.

I like the idea, but I can't handle generic things that don't really integrate that well onto the vehicle.

Definitely, that was what I was thinking. But then I found that escape gear makes vehicle specific ones, just not for the 200. We should just mass email them to get these made, and not have to start with a generic product.

I feel like I’ve entered the hardest type of wheeling... wheeling like I’m single, but with a family of four.

Don’t get me wrong, my wife lives for off-roading (why I married her). It’s more figuring out how to easily do all the thing that we used to, but with two kids that don’t just not help, but are a hinderence, because they are so young. So that’s why I’m all about, solid, no compromises, functional, and fast setups.

I just don’t have the money or long enough time out adventuring to deal with lots of work and little cash for fuel.

The drawer should done by March, we’ll see if I messed up or not.

I got one of these saddlebags, but find it unusable in my 2017 LC. No place to install where a strap doesn't touch some button or knob on the console - afraid that in searching for something in a pouch me or my passenger might inadvertently engage something we didn't intend.

And the Velcro they have on the bags will not stick to the console carpet.

So I set out to use it without the straps. I got out some 2"-wide "industrial strength" Velcro and found it doesn't stick either. Now I'm wondering what the heck is up with my console carpet, never seen this before.

I really want this to work as my wife otherwise uses the drink holder as a catch all (sunglasses, etc.).

@TonyP landcruiser cv shaft widest part is rubber boot on inner joint at 4 3/4" . You could probably get by with 41/2 if you don't mind compressing the boot. Overall length is 28.5"
