I got a 1976 fj 40. I sbun the crank bearing on number 5 rod. I am going to pull the engine this week. The engine I can handle, it looks prety straight forward. Once i get the engine out what else should i look for. or replace wile it is out. Thanks.
Grubzy :dunno:

Which job? Pulling the engine or replacing the bearing? Pulling the engine is really quite easy because the fenders and bib come off. be sure to support the trans.
The bearing job should really be handled by a competant machinist. They are few and far between. They should be able to tell you if the crank needs to be turned down, the rods machined, the block line bored and so on.
