Spring pack shipping cost??

How much have nay of you paid to ship leafs? I spoke with MAF today and was told that the Parabolics that I'd like to order would be $300 to ship. Granted I'm in AK, but cummon! My buddy got his ARB bumper for $90. Any thoughts? Ideas?

that sounds like too much to me. I paid about $150 truck freight to have my OME lift kit shipped to AL from Kurt.

I have the same problem since I live in an island, remember that stuff going to Sitka, most likely goes by air, and most of the companies that deal with air freight charge for volume, and weight. What I do is that I try to have what I order shipped by USPS whenever possible.

Thanks guys, do you know how much leaves weigh? I would think that the parabolics are pretty light... only 2 leaves per pack...

on sale, last set (I think thats what he said) $690 for the springs, anti-inversion shackles, bushings, and extended brake line kit.

Unfortunately shipping went off the map with the fuel price mess and it just hasn't rebounded yet. Where I work sends parts to Alaska on a regular basis and its always outrageous. Mostly diesel engine parts by the way. A lot of stuff leaves Seattle on barges headed north (I don't know the cost) but you are still stuck getting it to Seattle
But don't feel too bad about the cost, this summer my full float axle from Specter cost $280 in shipping to go from Southern California to just north of Seattle. That isn't much less than I had to pay for the axle! Also, we just sent a 10 lb box to Florida and the UPS ground shipping bill was $17.

To be honest the trucking and freight companies started taking a beating when fuel got up near five bucks a gallon. They retaliated by adding fuel surcharges and raising rates. Problem is fuel is back down and the companies are not dropping their rates. And probably won't.

I have shipped individual springs via FedEx ground by putting cardboard and tape caps over the spring ends, and then shipping. I want to say it was around $35 per spring. those packs are very heavy, probably 50-75 pounds per spring pack. You might get a better deal putting everything on a pallet and shipping at a truck freight shipper. Alternatively, Forward Air sometimes will take some big heavy shipments for a good price.

I agree with most of what Cruier Drew posted.

I don't think the parobolic spring would weigh that much though. An entire leaf pack, yes.

They are probably going to strap your order to a pallet and ship it instead of 5 or 6 different packages.


Your order will be a top load only, meaning that the freight company cannot stack anything on top of it. Floor space is a premium in a semi trailer.

I don't think we can ship a 4'x4' pallet with a glazed donut strapped on it on it across town for less than $200.

I should also say my stuff was shipped to a friends location (business) on a pallet where there is a loading dock + forklift. You might want to inquire about that if you can.
