Spidertrax 1.25 wheel spacers BEWARE (2 Viewers)

I might be stating the obvious here, but at the risk of sounding dumb:

Is it possible that one wheel is unbalanced? Spacers tend to exacerbate unbalanced wheel vibration.
Not at all. If this is the case, spacers are not my cup of tea. Imagine running some AT’s that are impossible to perfectly balance. jeeezzzz!!

When I installed my BORA 1.25" spacers, i felt a very slight wobble above 110 km/h. After re-balancing the tires, the wobble was gone. I imagine my wheels were slightly unbalanced to start with and exacerbated by the spacers.

I bought Spidertrax 1.25” wheel spacers from Slee, and unfortunately, they’re terrible. They have way too much play and don’t fit snugly on the hub. It was suspicious when installing but I followed all the torque specs and installation instructions. Driving around town was fine but once you hit the freeway and travel 80 mph+ on the highway, the entire vehicle had a nasty vibration – like something you’d rather not relive from an ex.

Having a 7 and 2yr old in the vehicle it freaked me out.

Complete waste of time and money. If you’re considering these spacers, beware. You’re better off getting wheels with the proper offset from the start.

I hope spidertax sees this, their quality control is in question and putting lives at risk from my experience.

Can’t return these so they’ll be going in the trash.

Something is wrong with your install. I’ve run the same spidertrax for many years now. Zero issues. They are hub-centric, and my 8300lb 200 gets wheeled extremely hard. Zero issues…ever.

FWIW: I have run these Spidertrax for 40k with an E rated AT tire on a MY2021 and even removed and reinstalled them for a front brake job and haven't had any issues. They were stuck to the hubs when it was time to do the brake job but came free after a few minutes of exposure to a heat gun and then a pry with a flat head screw driver to separate the spacer from the hub.

when installing, do you remember if you had play in between the hub and spacer like mine?

I installed Spidertrax 1.25” wheel spacers a this past Saturday, no issues. Since the bolts have a convex head, they fit good with zero play.

I did a road test and had no unusual vibrations at 85+ mph.

There is always a chance something is off, but we have sold 1000's of these spacers and have never had a single machining issue with tollerances.

I can't see all the detail but the hub is supposed to have a area that makes up the hub centric ring. The areas I circled looks like there is some corrosion on that area. Not sure on the 200 if it has a small step like the 80 hubs. However that area needs to be clean all the way around.

Does the spacers exhibit the same behavior on all the hubs? Can you post more detailed pics of the areas circled and also compare with the other hubs on the vehicle.

Does it move up or down or does it rock on the mating surface. Can't really see on the video.

These spacers should not have play on the hubcentric part and does not require special install with conical lug nuts.

In short I would make sure you are not hanging up on corrosion on the hub.

One more thing also but did you install the lugnuts on the spacers with conical side towards the spacer.

Huge thumbs up to Slee.

I was ready to give up on the spacers, but after getting a direct call from Slee, they’ve completely changed my mind. Their guidance and support have given me the confidence to stick with the product and try the solutions they suggested.

Top notch support!

Will report back.

Slee are good people.

They have a stellar reputation for a very good reason.

Bumping this up to ask. Did you solve the issue and kept the spacers? If yes, could you post a pic of your rig?

You can assume there is no issue and it was an install "error", and why there is no follow up

They’re nice paper weights and It’s not rocket science installing these and following the correct torque specs.

The tolerance of the product should have a snug and tight fitment which mine do not. I don’t trust it.

I remember a quote from a movie “Under Siege 2” about assumptions.

So, did you pull them out? Slee was not of any help then?

Pulled them out.

Slee directly called me. Very very nice folks and made sure everything I did with the install was correct. They told me to try the install once more and that it might have been install error. They have sold thousands of these and no issues.

Who knows it might have really been my mess up. Maybe in the future if i absolutely have nothing to do I’ll try them again but in the meantime if i really want the offset, I’ll just purchase some methods and save myself the mind games with the spacers.
