I bought Spidertrax 1.25” wheel spacers from Slee, and unfortunately, they’re terrible. They have way too much play and don’t fit snugly on the hub. It was suspicious when installing but I followed all the torque specs and installation instructions. Driving around town was fine but once you hit the freeway and travel 80 mph+ on the highway, the entire vehicle had a nasty vibration – like something you’d rather not relive from an ex.

Having a 7 and 2yr old in the vehicle it freaked me out.

Complete waste of time and money. If you’re considering these spacers, beware. You’re better off getting wheels with the proper offset from the start.

I hope spidertax sees this, their quality control is in question and putting lives at risk from my experience.

Can’t return these so they’ll be going in the trash.

Surprised to hear this. Have had them on my 2010 lx570 for several years and over 30k miles. Smooth as can be even over 80 mph. Didn't have any fitment issues to speak of.

I’m very happy for you. I do not wish my experience on anyone. Not sure if they’ve switched something in house or over seas, but what you have and what I have sound like a totally different part.

Maybe you were sent the wrong ones? Mine (also purchased from Slee) had zero play and fit perfectly. No problems in 50,000 miles.

I would measure them with a micrometer.. like said above maybe the wrong ones.

They sent me the correct ones. Whatever they’re producing or whoever they’re buying from, it’s doodoo

Spidertrax makes legitimate stuff. Before you throw them in the trash, I'll send you a shipping label.

I totally believe you're having problems but perhaps it's worth working through whatever it is? Spidertrax has a lifetime warranty for manufacture defects - Terms of Business - https://www.spidertrax.com/terms

Could be installation related too. It's possible the brake rotor wasn't flush and straight when mounting them. Even without hubcentricity (which they are), using a star pattern torque technique on the lugs will center them sufficiently. There's potential for corrosion and contaminants on the mounting face that it's not sitting well. Lug torque both spacer and wheel lugs. Or could be mounting of the tires. And more...

A video of the “play” would help. I’ve seen aftermarket parts (other than the spacer) be an actual problem… or rust.

And quite honestly, if you drove your family and young kids around knowing the wheels were loose, I’d suggest not doing anymore DIY work on your LC. Just bring it to a shop.

That and maybe not announcing to the room you’re driving your toddler around at 80+ after incompetently installing something as important as your wheels… I’d try and keep that to myself

mighta been labeled wrong dude, check em with measurements

Just following the flow of traffic 10 over speed limit, then a final confirmation when I was alone. Not sure how you can mess up installing a wheel spacer. But if the spacer has “play” in it, it wasn’t right from the start. When I was removing them, I double checked again to see if I made any errors, if anything was loose… Everything was tight. All the lugs on the spacer were a pain to get off due to the thread locker that was applied to every stud. Only 1 spacer out of the 4 fit snug.

From what I’ve read, if there is a play in the spacer and hub, it will cause a vibration at higher speeds which is what I was getting.

Thanks for this. Will shoot them an email. Enjoyed the stance of the LC when they were on.

Just for you guys, I will report back tomorrow with a video.

This.

The lug studs will absolutely be concentric and if tightened into that pattern gradually the wheel should end up concentric too.

maybe your hubs are different for some reason

Some wheels don't clear the wheel studs with 1.25" spacers. What do the mounting surfaces of your wheels look like?

Not sure. Its a 2021 HE.

I may not have explained the issue clearly before. The play in the spacer and hub occurs before torquing the lugs, but once torqued, the play disappears. However, from what I’ve read, there should be no play at all before torquing. I just wanted to clarify this point and see if this is normal or if there might be a problem with the fitment. Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you clean the hubs like properly clean them? Did any small rocks dirt get behind the spacer or wheel? That would 100% cause your issue.

Also side note heat up bolts with thread lock on them they come right off.
