First time post, long time lurk.

Just got a set of spider gears and side gears from Justdifferentials. (great transaction btw) Put them in and I get a huge gap between the spider gear washer and the differential case. See picture. I know the spider gears aren't always moving unless I'm getting pitted off road but that's a huge clearance I think.

The end of the axle is right up against the spacer so thicker side washers aren't going to fit.

Was about to take a picture but I found one in this thread that shows a slightly smaller gap but no one touched on whether the clearance was normal. Is this a huge clearance or should us just man up, put it all back together and go try and break the next part?

Isn't there a washer under the pinion gears? Did you replace with new? John

Yeah, new washers are in there. I could fit double washers in one end and still have room the gap is so big. I don't think that's an answer as the other spider gear wouldn't be meshing as good as the double washerd' one.

Most likely the case is worn...
I've seen worse....

a thicker thrust washer will up reduce that clearance...
