Speedometer Gear

That particular gear is privately imported from Japan by Christo. If it is too much for you why don't you fly over and pick one up yourself?

The truck gears will not work. I have spent hours and hours researching what 31 tooth gears, that were available in the US, could be fitted. I found exactly ONE. It comes from a 98 100 series. It does work and I run it in mine.

One teensy little additional requirement though.......You also need the 200 dollar sensor/sleeve combination it fits in to make it work...............

Bear80,

I bought the speedo gear from Christo a few years ago and thought the price was very reasonable. It works great with 33" tyres (285's and 305's) and comes with the proper O-ring and well written installation instructions.

If the cost is too much, maybe you want to look at the Tru-Speed. It will handle any tyre/gear combo and gives you the ability to set it up for 2 combinations and switch between the two quickly. Several guys on this forum are running the Tru-Speed.

What EPC are you using and do you have current pricing? I assume this is not on the dealer level or I would not need to ask.

Back before I knew of Christo, I bought a 98 speedo gear, removed the plastic gear from the shaft, and pressed it on my 97 speedo shaft. The 97 98 shaft diameters are the same; the length is different. The end of the metal speedo shaft has a cross thatch pattern on it to hold the gear. Care must be taken not to break the plastic gears when removing and pressing or it's buy another and start over. No problems on mine and it ran good 5 years. Probably best for most to just buy the one from Christo.
I posted this info on SOR once. Is the SOR search now gone?

Yeah I didn't think about that, I do have extra gears around...now if I just have a 31 tooth one.

I have a full 2004 EPC, with standard list pricing. And it only takes a call to find a price with my account at the dealer.

Lets try again:

What EPC are you using? (The vendor?)

And, are the prices current?

Bell & Howell Publisher-Version 2.6.3 01/02/02

Are you running this on a PC? If so how did you get it to load or be able to read the files? Thanks.

I have both the dual cd and the dvd versions. I use the dual cd version because I use my dvd rom too much. I'm friends with the dealership owner and just about everyone in the parts department and they gave me a copy when they got new ones in. The only thing is I didn't have a license to access the program......

Lets just say it's nice to have friends that are computer science majors. I have to tap that college resource you know, get my monies worth :D

I'm a 1/2  mechanic and I was even able to install the gear from Christo. Just do it!

Don't get caught with an un-licenesd catalog. Proquest/B&H are very, very protective of the product and the dealer could get spanked as well.
