I am posting this question for a friend in need. The speedo in his FZJ80 won't stay put. If the motor has any torque applied at all the speedo jumps around. It happens while moving and idleing in gear. Where is the short most likely occuring?

It might be the speed sensor located at the transfercase output.

Does your friend have a modulator to correct for tires/gearing installed like the truespeed calibrator?
