In my '98 LX non nav, non ml, the front driver speaker would cut out frequently. For some reason before I looked into that, I decided to take the radio out to see why the CD player wouldn't work. There was plenty of broken plastic. I managed to get the plastic and PO's big band and show tune CDs out. I put it all back together knowing I still wouldn't have a CD player, but now the passenger front speaker cuts out.

Is this coincidence or does it point to the head unit being the problem? I've read through a few posts on here, but I am ignorant of stereos and how to troubleshoot them. Any baby step help would be appreciated.

I finally ordered some replacement speaker that arrived this weekend. Upon disassembly of the speaker enclosure I noticed the spade connectors were awfully loose. The stock speakers were still together, so instead of dremeling (I have a phobia of modifying the stock stuff), I tightened up the connectors and will see how they sound through the week. I didn't pull the drivers door panel off yet to investigate.

I had speaker issues and when I disassembled the doors the foam had rotted off of the speakers
