After completing my 2H swap from an '87 HJ60 into an '84 FJ60, this is what I have for spare tire/jack tools. Can anyone tell me which of these, if any, are original to the '84 truck? Some of them seem too long to fit nicely under the drivers seat.

My hj 1985 (may) has the left side long rod with eye to connect to spare tire lowering chain, and the L should fit the square in the middle.
Both fit under the seat.
The middle 2 rods look like an extension but I don't see the purpose of that, forgot they also connect to the jack and then it might be useful.
Also starting the engine should be possible but radiator is in the way, wanted to try but never did, forgot when rad was out, forgot to slam trough rad when rad was leaking and to be replaced: missed opportunity.

The FJ60 had all those tools except the rod with the hook on the end is much shorter and all the extensions and handle fit inside one Toyota tool bag. I kept that bag of tools along with the Toyota jack in the little storage compartment on driver’s side all the way in the back. Not under the seats.

Hmm. If all of the rods are short and get rolled into the bag of tools, then what rods go into the clips under the drivers seat?

On a ‘86 FJ60, nothing got stored under the seats.
Maybe just find any place where you can fit the stuff.

The long rod. The FJ60s up to ca. 1985 had the clips for the long rod. Our '85 FJ60 has that set up. Our '86 FJ60 does not, it came with the sectioned spare tire rod that fits in the tool bag. Also with the early FJ60s there is an under seat mount for the jack. Later FJ60s the jack mount was moved to the cargo compartment on the left side.

Tool bag and jack placements correspond to whether the FJ60 has the early or late seat mount style.

Ok, thanks. Mine is an early truck being an '84, and I do have the jack storage mount under the seat. And there are 2 sets of rod clips under the seat. So, for a stock setup, can I assume I need one long rod with the hook, and the long extension? And the short extension likely belonged to the '87 HJ60?

Sounds reasonable. I find the short extensions to be a pain to use and only use the one long rod.
