Always wondered if I could find a thin enough one to mount on my hood... ;)
Is a hood-mounted tire carrier available?

Those LRs's hoods are built for/reinforced to carry the wheel. Our hoods would cave in - probably from the weight alone, definitely over the first bump.

I do like the idea of a very narrow spare - like something that'd be the 33" equivalent of the old GM space savers.

I've been doing this a long time all over the west in numerous vehicles.

In the last 10 yrs or so, I've had only one tire issue I couldn't repair. Focus on repair, your spare should be the last option.

That being said my spare is full size, and strapped down in back. The spare needs to be as capable as what it is replacing.

Having some mental overload issues the past few days here:bang:

My reference to "Pizza cutter spare" should have read "donut spare" (like the spares in newer cars). The idea being to 1) find a heavy walled donut that can handle short low speed (like 5mh) distance under load (<50m), 2) that can be stacked 2 deep under the 60 (now the 100).

Basically, last ditch insurance of 2 super thin spares taking the place of 1 full sized spare.

I know this is wishful thinking, but one never knows......

Apologies to all.
