How deep is that?? Looks like up to your axles??
Also, I usually try to steer people away from 35" tires because they just don't fit under the rear wheel well with the suspension compressed. My 33.9" BFG M/T's just fit with about a 1/2" left when stuffed in the wheel wells. I wouldn't push the size any larger, but that's me.
And regarding the rear diff breather, I had thought about that but the shop, YotaMasters, that did most all my work and deals only with serious off road Toyotas, said it really isn't needed. But on the other hand, we don't really get a whole lot of rain down here in So. Cal. nor creek fording. Maybe a partially dried up brook with some pollywogs. Just enough to wet the under carriage so all the dust sticks. :D

It was probably up to the hubs. My usual creek crossings would swallow the gx whole at the moment. With the current tires weighing 60lbs each and the platform rack it already is at the verge of gear hunting on the highway driving into the wind. The Yokohama geolander MTs are a couple pounds lighter so I’ll probably go with those or the Mickey Thompson Baja boss AT if they ever make them in a 285/70.

We got 22 inches over the past week. To be honest I expected it to happen lol.

Same, 11" in one day alone. Rain 10 of the last 11 days and 80% chance for tomorrow. The mosquitoes are gonna be the size of chihuahuas soon.

I don’t know if I can find enough wood to knock on, but after resealing the driver side backbone bolts I haven’t had any leaking.

I finally ordered tires today, but it may be a week or two before I can go get them mounted due to work. Went with 285/70 Geolandar MTs. I’ll move up to 285/75 when I get a front bumper. I’m hoping that with the 4.5 degrees of caster I can hold off on the body mount chop until I have time to take it to a shop. I’ll have to cut the plastic behind the tire before the new tires go on. Maybe I can get to that Sunday.

Looking forward to seeing those tires on a GX.

One of my buddies just got them put on his tundra and he likes them. I haven’t heard any negative stuff about them yet. I was pretty set on the Toyo MTs, but these are only going to cost me $750 since discount gave me credit for my current tires.

How did the credit work for your current tires?

This is actually the first time they’ve offered me anything for my used tires. I’m guessing since they’re still in great shape they’ll sell them used at their store or another branch of their business. They offered credit for them and I wasn’t going to turn it down. I might have been able to sell them for $100 more online, but then I’d have to deal with all kinds of weird offers and people wanting to haggle.

Thx. I wonder if it was something just your individual store did, or if it's a store-wide program? I will be swapping out tires I bought from them last year and they only have 8K miles on them. I'd also be happy to get credit for a future purchase rather than deal with a private sale.

With 285/75's without a BMC, you may get some rubbing. You'll be needing to go slow going in and out of driveways.
Wait until you get the tires on before you trim any plastic so as to more precisely see where to trim. and if you have one, use a heat gun along with trimming. With a heat gun, you won't have to cut as much, you can just deflect it away from the offending areas.

It's manager/store dependent but I've had different Discount Tire stores buy a lot of my tires and wheels over the years. If it's a low mile tire that's in a model and size that sells frequently they will be more likely to give you something for it, obviously less so if it isn't. They used to buy a lot of stock wheels in order to sell them to customers who came in with damaged ones but they are getting away from that more and more as they've found they mostly sit and rarely sell. $50-125 each is about as much as you can expect for them to give for a tire and/or wheel.

New tires are going on now. Didn’t want to trim the plastic until they were on so it’s gonna rub like crazy until tomorrow lol. If I get a chance before work I’ll post pics. Almost had them mount trail grapplers instead, but figured I’d give the Yokohamas a shot.

I think you made the right choice, Trail Grapplers are loud, chip out and wear fast. I personally think the Yokohama is a much better looking tire too, but I digress lol. Looking forward to some pics.

They look great. Didn’t get any pics yet since I got out of discount late. They had to replace a sensor they broke and were having trouble getting them to reset. No rubbing yet, but I haven’t been driving like my usual self lol.

Also, they ride great and are super quiet. I’m sure they’ll get louder, but they’re quieter than the cooper hybrids when they were new. They’re not as harsh over bumps either.

If it's the same Discount that did our wheel swap I am not surprised by them breaking a tire pressure sensor. They did the same on mine and then struggled for 30 mins to figure out the programming, sad lol. I have the stock sensors still.

It was the one by cavenders. I have the ones that are in my stock wheels and I’m going to have them take them out and dispose of the wheels and tires so I’ll have an extra set. The spare is supposed to arrive tomorrow or Monday so I’ll do it all then. Plus it’ll clear up some room in the storage so I can order more parts.

Since the new tires are taken care of I’m going to start ordering the smaller stuff like trail tools, recovery equipment, spare parts, and attachments to store stuff on the rack when we’re taking trips. I may order the front bumper soon if they go on sale again. I’ve decided I’m sticking with the Ironman premium unless something else comes out the sways me. The victory bumper looks great, but I’d really like to be able to mount a couple of BD LP9s or LP6s instead of a smaller bar. From the looks of it the victory doesn’t stick out far enough to do it.

The road to where I usually test out the flex on new setups was closed off so pics on a gravel road will have to do. Not sure why they were so quiet yesterday, but I can hear them now. They’re not as loud as many MT tires, but you can hear them.
