To do white rim overnight you need permits.

Last year all we needed was a simple 12v fan to move the air and we slept awesome. I like to sleep at 72 deg, if its 73 i have a hard time sleeping and we did great. The la salle mountains are 45mins from Moab, so if you don't do white rim you can camp at 10k feet, and drive in to hit the trails.

saint, I plan on heading out with you so just let me know where we are stopping. Not so sure about the route back, we will play that one by ear depending on who rides up there with me. Anyone else taking I-20 through DFW on the way?

@gxgonz sounds good. As of now no one else has mentioned coming from further east on I20, but looks like there will probably be 3-4 of us meeting up in Amarillo and Abq.

Well guys im pretty much set on arriving at Ouray on the 31st. Anyone else decide on arrival date? Will be glad to meet up with others at Amarillo or Albuquerque on the way to caravan up there. Motels are getting booked so wife and I figured getting there at least a day early would best.. We'd be taking of on the 31st early in the AM.... Thoughts? :)

Right now my plan is to spend the night of the 30th in Abq, so we'll be coming through Amarillo on the afternoon of the 30th. More than happy to meet up and caravan from there.

We'd leave Abq on the morning of the 31st (Thurs) and be in camp early afternoon.

My plans for the trip out are now pretty firm.

Albuquerque the night of the 30th (hotel already booked).

Up to Ouray midday on 31st.

Still open for a post HIH run somewhere...

Hey Andy - we are still trying to figure out out post-HIH plan. I think it will involve heading over to UT. It's about 3hr15min from Ouray to GReen River UT which is the northern entrance to the San Rafeal Swell. I am thinking (but not sure) that it'll be a little cooler there than Moab, and a bit more family friendly with some hikes, mild off-roading and fun terrain for the kids.

Not sure what your crew looks like or what you're looking for, but would definitely like to hang out with some other 100s for the post-event non-event! :)

It will be me and the wife, maybe my daughter.

And after 3 days of primitive camping, the wife informs me we are staying in telluride at a nice hotel Sunday night.

But I am def open for some Utah action mon-tues...

I stayed here for 2 nights last fall when i was passing through town. It was the shoulder season, $80.night on priceline!

The prices for August 1st are shall we say just a bit steeper!

Got one more thing done before HIH. Finally Finished my fridge slide. Turned out much better than expected.

Can you reach into the top of the fridge with it sitting on top of the cargo box? Do you have enough space when the fridge is nested to lift the lid a bit to grab a quick drink, or does it need to be slid out?

I still can't make up my mind on the 50 vs 63! Lower height and slightly larger side of 63 has me leaning that way.

yes the fridge can be opened when it is sitting on top of the rear drawers. the slide only added an inch and a half of height to the fridge.

as far a sizes.... the 50L is perfect for 2 people for a extended weekend, if any longer trips are in the works I would go bigger. just my opinion.
