I really like these things. Great wheelbase and nimble on the trails. Wouldn't mind having one as a grocery getter even. Any more pics underneath? Guessing not but any rust?

98% rust free.....or I wouldn't have added her to my fleet. I have NEVER seen a Gen 1 Trooper this clean rust free and unmolested. It had 1 tiny spot on the inside of the pass. side rocker size of a 50 cent piece....I media blasted it and POR painted it to seal it up. Its' so rust free I think I might POR the entire underside just because. I can take some pics if anyone needs to see. Truck has never seen salt or the salt air of the beach. Central NC. and the summers up in the NC mountians... Glad you guys like her....sort of an odd little beast but the 4 lo really can dig. its so light it handles like a nible pac animal. Very different then my beast of an FJ60. Currently I use it as a Grocery Getter and the cargo space is giant....double rear doors make loading and unloading and camping a breeze. Independent front suspension to boot! Also the truck has an amazing driving range ,big fuel tank....well over 20 Gallons. (might be 26 gal I think). Anyhow it doesnt need to filled up like most thirsty SUV's

front set up

yeah your right (not a soild axel) it is a pretty cool front axle set up with the torsion bar adjustability...independent front suspension..
thanks.
Solid front axle? You sure about that?

The first generation Trooper was available as a three- or five-door, with a solid 4.555:1 rear axle and an independent front suspension. - Wikipedia

I have seen this vehicle in person, and I have known Patrick for many years. Straight up guy and the Trooper is everything he says it is. Just wish you would have let me know you were thinking about selling it. Angela probably would have let me buy it.......

Love these old Troopers, they are so cool. Very fine specimen. I hope the next owner takes real good care of it.

Great looking Trooper. 2.6 4 cylinder? I am not too familiar with these. How is it on the highway?

A1A to the PCH

Great...that is one of the reasons I like it, 5 speed good mpgs and enough legs to get out of its' own way and a little bit more. I have taken a few long trips in it and am impressed. Its' a light truck and it is shaped like a box, makes it cool but not very areodynamic. 75 mph without hesitation (3-3,500 rpms). 80ish if you wanna pass someone or are in hot persuit. The engine and trans are super fresh with low miles so it has plenty of spring in the step for any 4cyl.

new items

Just had New rear pads and roters installed. She really is turn key and capable. Mechanic went over everything for winter. New battery as well.

Thanks!

Easy fix...ROADTRIP! half the fun is the journey...fly into Chicago I meet you there and off you go, the pictures would be worth the price of admission! I drove cross country one time in a VW Bug I bought, Now that was a fun trip.....First tank of gas and a 6 pack of Red Bull is on me!

smooth

just put a nice coat of Carnuba on her this afternoon, should increase the mpgs while you watch the rain dance off the flat panels in 5th gear heading south.
