Hi All:

Anyone seen a good source lately for military surplus "Jerry" (aka NATO) fuel cans? would like to add a couple more to my stash.

Thanks!

Alan

home depot has a version for $36ish.

Alan,

The Foxhole down here in Tacoma had some the last time I was in there. I have heard that they are even carrying the newer style NATO can (plastic) that are colored (tan or green). Occasionally, you will see some in the pawnshops/surplus store right off base. Also, try looking up some in DRMO on Ft. Lewis. You are close enough that if they have some you could always run down and pick them up.

I looked around the dallas area they had some DIESEL scepter cans that were good condition. it seems around here the surplus stores are fair to good quality. your sould try JAX surplus in Fort Collins Colorado or Twin Cities Surplus in Reno Nevada. they have a very good collection of good/better products.

Sprtsman's Guide. 14.95 slightly used. Very slightly used.

I got mine from sportsmans guide. Great price, and only slightly used. However their spout was a POS. Expedition Exchange has much better ones.

Hi All:

Thanks for the info!

Regards,

Alan

On the Sportsman Guides Spouts.....

If you put the clamp in a vise and close the gap slightly, they seal great!

You have to do one side at a time.

I did this and had no leaks, until I lost it on Rubithon

Aren't Kids Great - But

While recovering in Germany from an injury suffered in Iraq my son sent me a Cockoo clock. Better yet, yesterday a package show up from Deutsche Optik with 4 new NATO gas cans he ordered and gave to "The Old Man". Great but I think the opening in these cans are bigger than the other NATO cans I have seen (up until now I have used only USGI cans). Here is a link http://www.deutscheoptik.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=863 to the cans. Anyone know what spout I can use with these?

By the way the kid (what am I saying he is 26) is back in Iraq and doing as well as can be expected. Been there, Done that, Got the T-shirt!

LSLC has been discussing this subject the last couple of weeks. Go to their forum and read up. They offer up several links for sourcing cans. Both plastic and metal.

I don't think the standard NATO will will work with these MFC's. The ad states "This design, with rare bigmouth ..." and the opening does appear larger than the NATO MFC's I have seen. I am looking for someone who has had specific knowledge or experience with these MFC's. Maybe they are so new on the market no one has had time to become familar with them. The opening measures approximately 2-5/8 inches long, 3 inches at the widest and 2 inches at the narrowest.

That is different size than NATO for sure  spout looks to be centered too !

You could try to git one out of Europe ,or
You might have to wait until they show in the US market

If you don't need 'em in red or blue like EE has, but the olive drab will do- new ones are $29 at
dap-inc.com The spouts are more expensive than some other places, but they don't leak on your feet while fueling.
