Had another genius idea. Title pretty much sums it up.

It would be real nice to replace the useless ashtray in my LX's center panel with a panel that would accept standard (or better yet, small) Toyota switches. Who's up for making this? @bhicks?

Have you considered to put the switches inside the ashtray facing up and then you can open and close the slide to reveal your hidden switches?

I smoke cigarettes on occasion and know my way around a ash tray. Don't overlook it's ability to repurpose because it is a "useless" ash tray. Several things you can do with that slide and the space without modification. It's not useless.

Certainly possible, but I can't see that ending up as anything other than a hack job. Having to open the tray to access the switches is also not something I want to deal with while driving. Need to be able to fat-finger the switch without taking eyes off the road.

There's a small 3D printing company that makes such switches for Tacomas; had several of those those products before and they were wicked. Would love to have a similar drop-in for the LX!

I agree. I removed my whole ashtray and made a VERY basic bracket to hold my Yaesu faceplate. I added another "bracket" and mounted my Redarc brake controller. Looks like crap. I had the idea that I would make a filler plate and eventually mount a knock-off version of an SPOD, like the Rough Country one or something similar. Below is with just the faceplate mounted.

I'm always open to developing a new product if the demand is there. Right now I have already committed to about a 1/2 dozen new projects through this Spring. I can fit this project in this summer if there is interest.
