All,

I have been waiting on an order for the Dayco drive belt kit (D80950K1) which is the OEM equivalent for my 2013 LX570 for near two months. Summit racing has moved their estimated ship date back from early November to late December. All of the usual parts warehouses are out of stock as well.

I cannot force myself to pay Toyota over $250 for something which costs less than $120. So... has anyone ran an alternate kit? For example, ACDelco or Gates kit?

Can you get the components separately not in kit form, either from Toyota or or a local foreign parts specialist? Our local foreign auto place used to sell Beck Arnley stuff that was often reboxed OEM stuff.

Try Bell Lexus parts. I didn't look for long, but it doesn't seem close to $250. More than $120, but Toyota parts.

So this was a good idea. I just assumed that if the kit was out of stock for months at a time than the individual components would be too. Turns out I was incorrect. Both RockAuto and AdvancedAuto had the individual parts. AA even offered a discount and free shipping. I still paid slightly more than the kit but at least I'll finally be able to get to the job.

So dayco is the OEM mfg for the drive belt and pulleys?
No. Aisin is typical for pulleys and water pumps, can’t remember who for belts.

Still, check the discount dealer sites. You might be surprised how reasonable true OEM quality is. Front rotors for $60 each, for instance. And there will never be questions about quality.

Yea, I was about to say usually Mitsuboshi, Bando and sometimes Gates makes the OEM drive belts, Aisin makes pulleys and water pumps and Timken for front wheel hubs and bearings.

My OEM tensioner was stamped Dayco.

I stand corrected. Truly had no idea they were offering toyota levels of quality.

I just purchased this Dayco kit from Advanced Auto Part. It's super convenient and slightly more cost effective than buying the OEMs from the Toyota dealership (I know Dayco is an OEM supplier for the tensioner and idle pulley, not sure about the belt). Anyone used this for their land cruiser? I see mostly reviews from Tundra and Sequoia drivers.

I wouldn't be concerned with the quality of the Dayco kit. I've used their kits on numerous vehicles and they seem to be good quality. I am about to do the belt and tensioners on my Tacoma and will likely use a Dayco or Gates kit.
