Not sure what all would be required, except I'm pretty sure wouldn't be cheap. The damper part alone is north of $300 (retail). Part name (use for searching) and part number is: Lexus LX570 Base Damper | Lexus OEM Part Number 67028-60010
I can say that it is a pretty nice feature on the LX tail gate. It is just a large spring type of operation in the cylinder. It assist going up and down because of this.
I would think so. It’s been on the LX since ‘08.
Just found one on eBay japan for $40.
Thanks to all. Just bought one of ebay japan. Looks like I would also need an LX left hinge? to get the proper bolt that would go into this damper?
Let us know how that works out, I’d definitely consider putting it on mine as well.

Thanks for the diagram. I ordered the left hinge, at $54 its worth a shot. Looks like I would have to do some drilling to mount the damper as it has a bolt to hold in place. No hole there on my 08. Or could I possibly use some type of adhesive? I'll have the parts probably late next week at the earliest, but once I get into it I will post how it goes.
Here is the link, unfortunately I appear to have bought the last one. Maybe he will have more available later? Estimated receiving on that is 10/31 to 11/8 so this project will be out a few weeks.

Left Hinge part # is 6612060020. I ordered the bolt that attaches the damper to the body (part # 91673A0622, $0.62), it does not appear that it comes with the damper. I might also replace the "Check Cables" as Toyota calls them (part # 65706-60030) There getting kind of rusty at 180k miles in the northeast.

I think you might need this part to fit into the damper assembly, the hinge itself may need to be replaced in order for the rod to stick out from the hinge and into the damper assembly and use its spring

That part # is for 2013-16. The part # I referenced was specific to 08 LX. I checked the diagram for the 08 tailgate and it does show the bolt extended from the hinge to meet the damper. They are probably the same? Just changed the part #? I'll wait and see what comes and if it works. Thanks for the info.
Looks like we bought ours from the same seller.
HAH! I've been planning on doing the same retrofit for a while now. You definitely have to drill in some new bolt holes. Let us know how it goes.
