My b-day is coming up and my wife wants to get me some tools. I really need to get rid of my 20 year old socket bars and go with something new. So what do you recommend? I cannot afford gold plated diapers so it needs to be something reasonable.

I like the Hansen's I picked up from Sears.

Hi All:

Marshall, this is what they are talking about:

Socket Trays from Hansen Global | Organize your sockets & tools with our trays & racks

I have several of these and think they are great for organizing sockets. Admittedly, I only use them in the garage (have a separate tool box in the '40.)

I was introduced to the Hansen socket racks by a buddy. We were talking about how hard it is to read the size markings on sockets. He showed me these socket racks and I went home and ordered some for myself.

Regards,

Alan

X2 on the Hansen's I use those on my roller box.

Socket Holder, Urethane, 1/2 drive, Black

I use the flexible socket rails I got from Off Road Trail Tools. Not sure how long the urethane will hold up, but for the last few years, they seem to be good to go so far and by design you can store them in a smaller tool bag that might not be long enough for the hard rail.

Have one of these from lowes ,stay in my toolbox

A few options

For a tool drawer, the Hansen-style holders help keep you organized and you can see the size at a glance because the tops of the pins are labeled...my next purchase as soon as the tool cabinet arrives for Father's Day.

I have the flexible urethane holders and like them as well, but they are sometimes difficult to add remove without wetting first.

I like these from Lowes. I bought two of these and then transferred the clips to one of the bars, alternating sides so I have both regular and deep well sockets on one bar that fits in a 10-12" canvas tool bag. The clips on the large red rack from Lowes (pictured above) will work on either rack (but Sears clips are too loose). Buying the big rack on sale might be a more economical way to get more of the clips in the various sizes. I have one of these set-up for each size (1/4", 3/8", and 1/2") for both Metric and SAE sockets.

My oversize sockets stay on the flexible urethane holder at the bottom of the bag.
